8 Failure to Learn Math

Mathematics is a complicated subject. It is not only complicated to calculate, but also complicated in applying it or in reasoning. That is why many students avoid math lessons. Especially if the teacher is not able to bring interesting mathematics lessons, then this will make students more afraid of mathematics.

The following are some of the things that make students fail in learning mathematics or in other words students have difficulty participating in learning mathematics.

1. Fear of being wrong

The most common thing that begins with students learning mathematics is the fear of being wrong in doing math problems. He prefers not to do than to do but is wrong. He prefers to wait for his friend to do it and then he starts working on it.

2. Weak calculation ability

The most common thing that students experience when learning mathematics is the weakness in performing multiplication or division operations. At the school level from elementary school to high school, it is problematic to perform arithmetic operations. For example, students still find it difficult to calculate 6 x 8 or divide 14: 6 and so on.

As a result, he experienced stagnation in the calculation process because he had difficulties in carrying out arithmetic operations.

3. Tend to Avoid Math

One of the habits that students have is running away from something that is difficult. He prefers lessons that make him relax rather than choosing lessons that require further thought. As a result, they tend to avoid learning mathematics. This can be seen, that they prefer it if the math lesson is empty.

4. Misunderstanding learning mathematics

Many students think that mathematics is synonymous with counting. Though that assumption is wrong. Mathematics is not just counting numbers with certain formulas. In fact, what is more demanded is learning to reason using mathematics.

5. Finding less competent teachers

The sad thing that can be said is that there are still many incompetent teachers. Students are only provided with memorized formulas and then apply them with similar questions. Teachers are less able to arouse students' interest in learning more enthusiastically. Boring and tedious learning is done by the teacher. As a result, students are lazy to move and continue to learn.

6. Prioritizing memorizing formulas rather than thinking logically.

Unfortunately, learning mathematics in schools today is that teachers often teach mathematics by applying existing formulas. Here the teacher does not provide alternative reasoning, this makes students who have high academic abilities more boring. In fact, they (children with high academics) need questions that provide reasoning rather than conventional learning.

7. Just read the questions without practicing

Lack of practice working on questions allegedly makes students fail to get good grades. Even though learning math problems requires quite a lot of practice. This exercise, of course, requires a variety of questions, especially questions that have never been done.

8. Lazy to take notes

Students tend to like listening rather than taking notes, even though taking notes is more powerful in memory than just memorizing formulas.

Well, that's the 8 failures of students who study in school. Hope it is useful.
